Flexibility and high service standards are a must for Pemamek’s partners

Pemamek is the world’s leading manufacturer of welding and production automation solutions. The family-owned company has earned its position through decades of dedicated work and bold product development. Pemamek and Stairon were brought together by a growing demand from the wind power industry.

Pemamek’s strong growth is built on a diversified business: the company serves machine shops, shipyards, the energy sector, and the wind power industry. Future growth potential lies especially in shipbuilding and wind energy.

– All of our customers expect tailored solutions from us. We always deliver according to our clients’ needs and put our professional expertise to use, says Teemu Tanninen, Category Manager of Procurement at Pemamek.

Pemamek expects the same level of flexibility and service from its partners.

– We rarely receive repeat orders. Flexibility is the most important factor in our partnerships, Tanninen adds.

– The importance of service level has also grown along with our own growth. In the past, we might have subcontracted steel beams and handled the surface treatment and assembly ourselves. Now we want our partners to deliver products that are as complete as possible,” says Sami Multanen, Manufacturing Manager at Pemamek.

Production adjusted as needed

The collaboration between Pemamek and Stairon began a few years ago when orders from the wind power industry started increasing. Pemamek was looking for a partner capable of machining long components and with the workforce and expertise to meet demand. The first order from Stairon included 35 towers – vertical and horizontal beams, and bases for welding columns. Everything was delivered on schedule.

As demand continued to grow, Pemamek looked to expand the partnership.

– We wanted to move from partial deliveries to complete assemblies with Stairon. Getting more from one place improves efficiency, saves time, and simplifies supply chain management, says Tanninen.

Pemamek’s automation solutions are custom-built for each client, and production volumes vary significantly, requiring particular expertise and resilience from partners.

– The fact that Stairon can, for example, expand its production space quickly and flexibly is a major advantage for us. Very few players are capable of that level of adaptability, Multanen explains.

Products delivered directly from Stairon to the end customer

Today, the collaboration continues to deepen. Stairon now manufactures equipment in serial production that is assembled, packaged, and shipped directly to the customer. A close partnership benefits from open communication on both sides.

– In project deliveries, it’s not enough for things to work on paper. You need a partner who takes action immediately when challenges arise – and Stairon has proven to be exactly that, says Multanen.

Pemamek is already looking ahead. The goal is to shift even more of the manufacturing and pre-assembly to partners, allowing the company to focus on its core strength: product development. Stairon’s role is set to grow further as a result.

– The best thing about working with Stairon is the reliability. As a global automation solution provider, partnership is a key part of our future growth – we know we can count on consistent quality and reliable schedules, conclude Tanninen and Multanen.
