SMO Lining

Marine – Lifecycle services

Stairon’s professionals carried out challenging lining work using rope access in cruise ship exhaust stacks, which reached heights of up to 70 meters. The work was performed entirely suspended by ropes – personnel, welding equipment, and steel components were lowered into the stack using harnesses and ropes.

Safety was the top priority: employees were trained in rope access under the guidance of mountaineering specialist Ari Piela, and there were always multiple safety spotters on site. Hot conditions, strong airflows, and loose debris presented challenges, but these were managed with proper protective equipment and careful planning.

In practice, this is a rare example of extremely technical and high-risk industrial work, combining advanced professional skills, rope access techniques, and extensive international experience.

Scope of delivery

• Lining work on internal structures of cruise ship exhaust stacks
